The challenge this week over at Daring Cardmakers is as follows:
"Its my turn (Jane) to dare this week. Okay -are you ready? For my dare you can choose any theme for the card BUT it must incorporate 'Checks', whether it be gingham paper or ribbon or squares, any thing really as long as it incorporates some kind of shape with 4 equal sides....... so go on- I dare you to think outside the square/step out of the box ..............easy as, eh ?!!"
I've had this tiny checked frame rubber stamp forever, and had never used it, so this dare motivated me to take it out of the box. Since I still haven't managed to get a Cuttlebug, I embossed the butterflies by hand, snipped some petals off a bunch of flowers I had in the closet (I knew they'd come in handy eventually!), and added my usual eyelet. Simple and sweet!

Love the paper you used with the embossing
This card is too cute and all the work you put into it! (the embossing) I really like it and the colorful checks are just darling!
Malieta:)
You're right - this is really sweet! Love the effect of the frame around the butterfly.
You don't need a Cuttlebug to use the CB embossing folders, you know. I used them loads in my Zip e'mate -most of the major die cutters work, I believe- and you can even use them in a pasta machine! You can maybe spend the money on the pretties rather than the machine itself!
This is very pretty, great embossing and soft colours.

Such a pretty card - love it!
LOve this, so pretty!
You're right - simple and sweet. I like the way you have put the little blue butterfly on the same background as the embossed flutterbys and then picked up the blue in the border.
You sound like me...hanging on to everything just incase...and one day that check frame will be just right! And here we are...perfect. Lovely summer design. Love the butterfly in the frame too.
That embossing is impressive - and that little check frame is so, so sweet!
I love this! That paper is gorgeous - and what a clever idea to use the squared frame. Seeing this has reminded me of the QK squares goosebumps die I've got in the box - a bit late really, though!
Lovely colour combination, it gives such a great clean feel to the card. Brill work!
